Week 1, Day 3

Yesterday wasn't bad points-wise, but I'm definitely seeing a pattern. I keep snacking on bread and the snacks at work - particularly the Fiber One brownies. Yes, they're only 2 PP apiece, but two at a time is 5 PP. Still not as bad as your average candy bar, but still not exactly what I want to be doing to my body. I've had THREE of them today, so something's gotta give. My goal next week is to have no more than one office-kitchen snack each day. I'm thankful they provide snacks (and healthy ones, at that), but I need to get it under control.

The bread is usually a middle-of-the-night snack. I think my body is used to being carbed up before bed and since I've cut out most grains with dinner, my body is angry. I'm going to incorporate a starch for dinner at least for a while to see how that works. I had butternut squash last night and that seemed to work - I didn't wake up with a craving. Granted, I also had the M&Ms, so that could've had something to do with it.

In a nutshell: Old habits die hard.

I still haven't seen this whole movie. Josh made me watch it once and I think I fell asleep. Much of my nerd cred left my body that day.

Anyway, you'll also see I didn't get to the gym. Which is not good, but...I don't know. Something inside me is saying it's OK and that focusing on getting my eating under control is the important part right now. Which doesn't quite work since I have to complete a half marathon in six weeks, so I'm working on it. Tomorrow my goal is to complete a 30-minute circuit workout. Nothing too crazy, but something. Oh, but my FitBit did decide I earned an APP, so that's cool I guess.

This weekend I have a couple challenges. The first is dinner out at Toojay's with Josh and my mom tonight. I already planned my meal: baked tilapia and steamed veggies. Regretting the brownies now though. On days when I know I'm eating out, I need to be a little stricter than usual.

Tomorrow night is my friend Katlyn's birthday party. Josh and I are going to watch the Disney half marathon in the morning (to cheer on our friends Krista and Liz/lizblizz, woo!), then to Publix to do our grocery shopping. So I'm going to make sure I pick up a PP-friendly dessert to have when everyone else is having cake. I'll have dinner before, then pack some snacks just in case. I know there will be a veggie tray but ehhh. Also, no alcohol. I'm driving. And I don't need it.

Sunday I'm going to run/walk 30 minutes if it kills me.

Those are the plans. I'll be working on the hard part - making them my priority/a reality. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Yeah I agree it's better to focus on eating than working out. And as for your upcoming half-marathon, haven't you completed those with minimal preparation before? So it's not like you can't do it.

I don't get the movie reference so I am even LESS cool.

Oh I would never say it's BETTER per se, but for me it 100% is important that I get the eating part down and then incorporate the exercise. If I try and do both full force at once, it doesn't work. I know this, so IDK why I keep trying. So I'm not going to beat myself up.

Eh kind of, but not THIS minimal of prep, lol. We'll see though. I know I'll be able to get through it at the very least.

It's just a GIF from Die Hard lolol.

Well I said "better" because you can work out in the gym all you want, but if you eat crap it's not gonna matter. Whereas if you eat well, but don't really exercise, you can still lose weight.

Have you looked into GymPact? I really like how it motivates me to work out and eat fruits and veggies. The hardest part is remembering to take pictures of them lol. I make like $2 a week and you don't have to go to the gym, you can do RunKeeper workouts or another fitness app on your phone (or a motion tracker). It definitely motivates me because I'm like "don't wanna pay $5 - gotta work out!". I've just been walking mostly.

Good luck on your half-marathon. I'm sure you'll kick butt regardless. You dressing up?

Also, I just ate a slice of toasted spelt bread with some crazy almond/cashew/whatevercrazynut butter from Whole Foods. And later on I'm making baked tofu over a salad. What up????

(Tom likes how I've been cooking more lately lol)

Oh well yeah def. :o)

I have but eh, it doesn't do much for me. I might use it once I start going to the gym regularly again but it makes me feel like I'm more accountable to other people than myself, and I don't think that jives me me too well. But I think it's a great idea overall!

Thanks! Yeah I'll wear my Belle running outfit again.

Omg I can't keep nut butters in my apartment or I'll eat it all lol. Yay glad Tom is so supportive!

I am with you on focusing first on food and secondary on exercise. Both are important, but like Rachel said, anyone will tell you weight loss is mostly diet.

Good luck tomorrow! Text me from the party if you're feeling snacky!

Yeah. It's definitely true. I know in the past it's been a lot easier for me to get my workouts in after I've gotten back on the healthy-eating wagon, so I'm really trying not to beat myself up too badly.

You will be my text buddy for sure LOL. Be available from 9 p.m. until like...midnight? :p I'm bringing snacks so hopefully it won't be too bad.

Hey there!
I went to Toojays once and they had a grilled chicken with steamed veggies as the side. Gotta tell you the veggies are huge! However, I didn't taste butter so I think it was pretty lean. I don't remember the portion size of the chicken though.

I saw that on the menu but I've never gotten it! Thank you for the recommendation. And yeah I got the broccoli (double portion instead of the fruit it comes with) and yeah, they don't really cut it up for you, do they? LOL!
