Week 3, Day 1

Allrighty, I am aware this is a day late, but I have been pretty busy.

If you look at my food log from yesterday, you will see photographic evidence of how bad I was last night. So that sucked. I should never have bought that box - I don't think I'm quite at that level of control yet. But the good news is that I am down 1.6 lbs. from yesterday evening's official weigh-in, meaning 1.) I weighed myself outside of meetings (bad Jen. I did make sure of the scale differences, though - my personal one is 2.2 lbs. higher than the meeting one), and 2.) I probably did do as well as I thought I did last week and was retaining water. Plus, I used all my WAPs over the weekend, so I'm sure that didnt help. But that chocolate might catch up with me too, so I have to be good. I am only 1.2 lbs., as of right now, away from my goal #1...so technically I COULD reach it before my hair appointment. I am going to check the scale Friday evening before I leave work to see. Going to try my very best until then.

I started incorporating eggs into my diet, as you can see. I haven't really eaten eggs since I was oh...8? 9? I went through this period where I hated them, and still kinda do...BUT I can do hard-boiled ones, and now scrambled, as long as they have cheese mixed in. And those Laughing Cow wedges work perfectly. I scramble up an egg in a bowl and stick it in the microwave at work, then mix the cheese in and nuke it a little longer. It kept me pretty full, and I have an issue getting protein in sometimes too, so that's a win! I did buy a few other newish things at the grocery store too (namely tuna and a new flavor of sherbet), but I did NOT buy this jar of "fake" peanut butter I saw. It claimed to have 0 calories and I was intrigued so I picked it up...it had 0 everything - no carbs, protein, fiber, OR fat. And the ingredients sounded really, um...chemical. So I didn't end up getting it because it didn't sound like something I'd want to put in my body. Plus, I would probably eat the whole jar, a la the Ferrero Rochers.

Another mini win...those size-7 jeans? Yeah, they were DEFINITELY loose today. The crotch area was baggy, it was pretty sweet. They are my favorite jeans now, haha. They are pretty big for a 7, I think, but I am convinced if I went to American Eagle and tried on a pair of 6s, I just may pull it off. Might have to try that this weekend...or maybe after my next weigh-in.

My 30-minute run went well today. I was actually looking forward to doing it. It's crazy how much differently I view a 30-minute run now as opposed to a year ago. A year ago I would've passed out trying to attempt it; now, it's a short-run day, and I am not even that tired afterward. I mean, it is still tough sometimes, but not really. It gets easier every time, so I'm pretty stoked I can call myself a runner.

I went to Kitzzy's afterward and she gave me some good running clothes that she was going to donate (thanks, Kitzzy!). Now I just have to go get a sports bra and an iPod armband and I'll be set. :o)

Also, I have some exciting new to share that isn't directly related to health and fitness but very much related to the self-journey aspect: I'M GOING TO AUSTRALIA! :-D I have been wanting to go to Australia since I was about 15, so this trip is 11 years or so in the making. It's Sept. 12-24. I am going to spend six nights in Cairns, QLD near the Great Barrier Reef and four nights in Sydney. I cannot wait. It's going to be amazing. And I am going to look good. :p Definitely going to run around the Darling Harbour in Sydney (as seen in my journal header, yay)! It'll be a nice way to come full circle on my journey.

I know I make it a point to say it in my comments, but honestly, thank you all so much for your support. It really does push me when I have those 12-pieces-of-chocolate kind of days (proof that looking thin != immune to temptation!) to know that I have to come and confess to you guys. And I love hearing about your journeys as well, even if I don't comment as much as I would like to. So thank you for sharing them with me!

Edit: Scaled my new-clothes reward amount back considerably due to Australia, but...it is still a great prize. :o) I budgeted when the trip gets closer to get a little bit of new clothes anyway, and I'd say that trip is a pretty awesome goal reward.
