Week 13, Day 7

Going to take my measurements later tonight. Edit: Updated with measurements.

So I lost weight over Thanksgiving. In New Orleans. After beignets and lots of random other deliciousness. I know I have been quite the yo-yo, but I am really grateful for that. I don't think I have ever come back from Thanksgiving having lost weight, so +1 for me. I think a lot of it was because I wanted to set a good example and practice what I preach. I can talk all day to my family about what's important in my life and why they should care about what I care about, but I am starting to realize in more ways than one that I can't just will something into existence, no matter how much I think it is right. And words mean nothing without action - a lesson I have had a healthy and humbling dose of as of late, so I'm working on taking deliberate action to better myself and make no apologies for it.

But yeah, I ate what I wanted. I did run twice though, and my dad even came to the little apartment-complex gym with me the first day. That was really cool to see. My dad has always been super fit up until about two years ago. He has put on about 60 pounds and has been sedentary and - well, for lack of a better word, lazy. So seeing him using the machines in the gym was awesome and made me want to try my best even more.

I also made some healthy dishes to bring to Thanksgiving dinner - broccoli with garlic and a cilantro Caesar salad, both recipes from a WW cookbook that I have made before. They came out great. Weren't a big hit among the gooey macaroni, creamy green-bean casserole, buttery mashed potatoes, etc., but I ate them, and honestly, that is why I brought them, so I don't mind. I mean, I ate the other stuff too, but not nearly as much as I would have eaten had I not had that salad and broccoli. I went to a Renaissance Festival on Sunday and had a turkey burger, a few chips, and one fried Oreo out of a thing of five of them. I really wanted a turkey leg and all those damn Oreos, but I had a little treat and the resistance paid off. Can't complain about that.

Anyhoo. Still need to get my fitness gear. Kitzzy is selling me a good pair of running shorts for a good price if they fit me well, so that's awesome. I still need a new sports bra, an armband for my iPod, and some more clothes. Also need to factor in a new pair of running shoes about a month before the half.

Joe and I started another weight-loss competition at work. He has lost about 15 pounds since we started the first one about 12-13 weeks ago. Pretty awesome. He has been biking a lot. I have lost, um, two, lol, so it's time to kick my butt back into gear. I don't have any excuses anymore.
